What is it?
The HMD® Ultimate Detox Program is a comprehensive, naturopathically designed approach to heavy metal detoxification, built around four key products:

Why focus on heavy metals?
Heavy metals such as mercury, lead, cadmium, arsenic, antimony, nickel, bismuth and uranium are present in our modern environment – in air, water, soil, food, dental materials, industrial pollution and various consumer products. Over time, these metals can accumulate in tissues, including the brain, liver, kidneys, bones and fat.
Research and clinical experience suggest that chronic exposure to these metals can:

Dr Georgiou’s HMD® protocol follows a simple but powerful sequence:
- Mobilise metals from tissues and cells – intracellular chelator (HMD®)*
- Bind them in the gut and support their safe transport out (HMD® Organic Chlorella)*
- Drain and support the main elimination organs (HMD ®LAVAGE)
- Nourish and protect with micronutrients and antioxidants (HMD® MULTIS)
Each product plays a distinct role:
- HMD® Heavy Metal Detox – the core formula
HMD® Heavy Metal Detox is the centrepiece of the programme. It is a liquid, 100% natural formula containing:
- Chlorella Growth Factor (CGF)
- Coriandrum sativum (cilantro) leaf tincture
- Homaccord of cell-decimated, energised Chlorella pyrenoidosa
This combination was not chosen at random. Over three years of research, Dr Georgiou’s team tested 14 different natural substances and combinations in metal foundry workers, including cilantro alone, chlorella alone, chlorella growth factor, homeopathic chlorella, vitamin C and several homeopathic mineral compounds.
Key findings from this work, later published in the International Journal of Complementary & Alternative Medicine, include:
- Most natural agents tested either did very little or only increased elimination for one or two metals.
- Cilantro on its own sometimes led to lower measured metal levels in urine and faeces compared to baseline, suggesting possible re-uptake back into cells when no other binders were present.
- The only formula that consistently increased excretion of all tested metals (arsenic, lead, cadmium, antimony, nickel, bismuth, uranium and mercury) via urine and/or faeces – and did so across all subjects in the trials – was the combination now known as HMD®.*
In one mercury-specific trial with 56 people, a 24-hour HMD® provocation led to an average ~448% increase in urinary mercury excretion compared with baseline, while the placebo group showed almost no change. Liver and kidney markers remained within non-pathological ranges, reinforcing HMD®’s profile as a “gentle chelator” in adults.*

- HMD® LAVAGE – herbal drainage and elimination support
HMD LAVAGE® is a vegetable-glycerine herbal tincture designed to be taken alongside HMD®. It contains seven herbs traditionally used to support the body’s main routes of elimination, such as:

HMD® Organic Chlorella uses cracked-cell Chlorella pyrenoidosa, a freshwater microalga rich in:

How the HMD® Ultimate Detox Program is structured
While exact details can be tailored by a practitioner, a typical adult programme looks like this:
- Preparation phase (up to 2 weeks)
- Transition to a cleaner diet, such as an alkaline or Ultimate Detox Diet approach – more vegetables, salads, whole foods, less sugar and processed food.
- Ensure bowels are moving regularly (daily) and hydration is adequate.
- Introduce light movement (walking, stretching, yoga) if not already in place.
- Active detox phase (usually 90 days)
Typical adult guidance (adjusted as needed):

- ~45 drops, 3× daily in a little water, usually 10–15 minutes before meals
